nickel

Our technologies use engineered nano-structures of nickel to achieve unprecedented levels of electromagnetic performance in polymer and composite systems. These nanostructures are in the form of nanometer scale coatings and nanostrands.

The suite of materials that we manufacture includes
nanostrands, nickel coated fibers, and nickel coated broadgoods (such as paper or cloth).

Nanostrands are self assembled three dimensionally branched and interconnected high aspect ratio sub-micron chains of pure nickel. They form a volumetrically continuous network of nano and micro level Faraday cages.

Nanostrands are used to create high performance electrically
conductive adhesives, paints, resins, elastomers, coatings, gaskets, surfacing films, and the like. These high levels of performance are achieved due to the combination of the unique geometry of nanostrands, and the electromagnetic and physical properties of nickel. Nanostrand products are typically one to three orders of magnitude more conductive than equivalent volumes of carbon nanoscale materials. Nickel nanostrands also exhibit corrosion and weight advantages over silver based conductive systems.

Chemical Vapor Deposition coated products yield a highly uniform, smooth, conformal, and ductile coating with controlled thickness between 20 and 2000 nanometers. These coatings can be uniformly applied across and throughout a tow of fibers, woven cloths, or non-woven broad goods such as papers and scrims.

Our materials have been used to achieve unsurpassed levels of electromagnetic performance in composite and polymer systems. These technologies have been proven in applications such as
lighting strike, ESD, EMI, dielectric contrast reduction, ground planes, conductive adhesives, conductive elastomers, and many others. We invite you to explore the possibilities of how these materials can help you to achieve your electromagnetic design goals in polymer and composite systems.
